Raúl was not born deaf, but the continued loss of hearing is leading him towards silence day by day. This silence is experienced by this artist as a vital balance of opposing forces: from isolation and lack of communication to liberation and learning. Everything is a vital balance that can be seen in his images, with a contrast of light/shadow that manages to provide a sculptural corporeality to everything that stands in the way of his objective.
